Some review problems to help you prepare for the AQR Fall Final!
There is a lot of vocabulary associated with statistical investigations on this final, but there is also a lot of calculations.
After you finish reviewing the 10 activities found in Unit 3, try doing the following problems on your own. You will need a TI calculator.
Using
the following data to find or make the:
1.
Mean
2. Standard
Deviation
3.
Five number summary
4.
Box and Whisker plot
5. IQR
6. An
outlier

Minimal Spanning Tree Algorithm Rubric.
Presentation Rubric for “another” algorithm for arriving at
minimal spanning tree.
Your minimal spanning tree presentation must have:
___Definition of minimal spanning tree
(10 points)
___A real world application for a minimal spanning other
than Ethernet networks, trains, and bridges
(10 points)
___Research and report on another algorithm besides Kruskal’s
for arriving at a minimal spanning tree.
(20 points)
The report should:
___ give the reader some background on the algorithm
(20 points)
___and teach the reader how to make weighted network into a
minimal spanning tree. Pictures are a must.
(20 points)

Data Set Assignment and Survey Design
I assigned a data set per group, so you will be working on data set 5, Diesel sales taxes by state, on page 41. There is a link for a map of America and the sales tax associated with diesel fuel found on the web page listed on pg 41.
####Please email me your finished product. I would like you to make a word doc this time.####
Use your calculator to randomly select 10 of the 51 amounts. Write down the name of each state and its sales tax on a gallon of diesel fuel.

Use your calculator to randomly select 10 of the 51 amounts. Write down the name of each state and its sales tax on a gallon of diesel fuel.
Calculate
the descriptive statistics for the data set and interpret all statistics. (5
number summary and mean)
Create a
histogram in Excel. Explain what the graph tells you about the data.
Write a
couple of sentences for the school newspaper about your results.
After you
have emailed me your data analysis word
docs, complete Survey Design p45 #1-3.

AQR - Statistical Study - Day 1
You will complete the initial
phase of your research study.
The outcomes of today
are:
What are my
questions/hypothesis?
What is my chosen sample
technique?
The project topic should
be fully fleshed out at the conclusion of today.
In order to be
successful, I've attached the rubrics for the project and presentation. I would
recommend downloading these files and getting
accustomed with them before you
start the project.
